Sheppard Air Force Base has enjoyed a great relationship with Wichita Falls and the surrounding community over the years.

When asked to describe the relationship, Lt. Col. Jurgen Shumann, Senior National Representative for the German Air Force, said, “Awesome. It’s just one word. It’s so lovely to be here, you know we have a lot of connections, not only because we’re Germans, but also because we’re in the Air Force. On the leadership side, too. So there are a lot of connections within the Wichita Falls community, and the surrounding area, Burkburnett, also. That’s very nice, very lovely people live here, so it’s just awesome.”

Sheppard Air Force Base is the largest training base for Air Education and Command in the U.S. Air Force and is home to the only internationally manned and managed pilot training program.

The Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training program at SAFB includes 14 countries and in its 38 years has graduated more than 7,500 trained combat pilots to NATO allies.

The Air Show is set for October 26-27th, 2019. Get more information about the show here.
